Host Isolation vs Partitioned?

Hello,

I am finding it a bit difficult to understand the difference between host Isolation and Host Partitioned. Can anybody explain to me what is the difference?

What I understand is that if the management network goes down, datastore heartbeat is used to determine the host status. Master host does this to check the slave status. Incase of isolation, we will have only 1 master but if hosts are partitioned, we can have multiple masters. But how does the master check whether the host is partitioned or isolated?

Is the host declared isolated by the Master by looking at the Host-hb file or by looking at the Poweron file on the designated heartbeating datastore?

Thanks

AG
