Hi,
I am trying to find the best VMware server storage/cloud product/solution for hosting two VMware images/servers:
Image 1: Historian image storing data, running on Microsoft Windows 2008 Server R2 OS. This will have MS SQL server 2008 and relevant Historian software installed. The base image will take up 40GB of Hard drive space and will need to be allocated 4 GB of RAM. The archives from the Historian should be saved to some sort of RAID hard drive bank and we could start with 250 GB of space.
Image 2: Web reporting image running on Microsoft Windows 2008 Server R2 OS. This will have Microsoft IIS and will also need to run the relevant reporting software installed. The base image will take up 40 GB of Hard Drive space and will need to be allocated 4 GB of RAM. This image won’t be storing any of the data so there is no need for a large hard drive.
The Image 2, Web Reporting image will need to be able to poll data from the SQL server and Historian software on Image 1 via a secure network. Both images will need to be running at all times.
Image 2 will need to be able to be accessed via a Web browser, via a domain name. Users will need the ability to log in directly to Image 2 using a login/password.
Sorry I am so newb, but I honestly have no idea where to start. Someone originally recommended using Amazon S3 for this solution, but I figured VMware was more logical since we are going to be hosting VMware images.
Thank you for your help!,
Rob
