I have VM running windows 2008 r2 server in VC 5.1 on ESXi 5.1. When I try to power on the VM after I upgraded the VM with 8 vCPUs, it gets stuck at 15% and eventually fails with the error "a general system error occurred the system returned an error. communication with the virtual machine". It powers on fine with 4 vCPUs.
Has anyone encountered this issue? The lic I am running with is Enterprise Plus, so licensing is not an issue.
