Hi there,
The company I am developing a cloud solution for requires a development environment for testing and also for myself to use a platform to build the production cloud.
I want to use 4 servers running ESXi 5.1 with vCenter HA / Live migration, storage vMotion etc...
Now, obviously I need shared storage but this system doesn't warrant a full blown SAN running 10Gbit iSCSI or 8GB Fibre. I have build Hyper-V solutions in the past using the Dell MD3200 and SAS HBA's which worked a treat.
I have done my research online and beleive that 4 hosts connected to an MD3200 via SAS will allow HA and Live Migration etc... Can someone confirm this for me?
Lets say, the budget for storage is £10,000. Is the MD3200 a good option here? In terms of speed I have always been impressed with it. Or are there other options? Please note I don't want to use 1Gbit iSCSI. I want something with more bandwidth than that. The hosts will be running around 5-10 VM's each which consist primarily of Database and Web servers.
Please advise.
Regards
Tom
