I need to migrate some VMs (including the existing snapshots) to a stand-alone (free) ESXi 3.5 host to an ESXi 5.0 host member of a vSphere 5.0 infrastructure.
VMware Converter does not work for me because it does not migrate snapshots, neither I can use the backup sulition I currently use.
I cannot use OVF for the same reason.
A possible solution coud be temporarely add the old ESXi host to the vSphere 5.0 infrastructure for the time needed to migrate the VM: is it possible?
An alternate solution could be downloading the folders containing the VMs from the VMFS datastore managed by the old ESXi 3.5 host to a Windows folder and the upload them to the datastore managed by the ESXi 5.0 host, but I strongly suspect it does not work.
Is there any alternate solution?
