Hello,
I have a question and I cannot seem to find the answer to. I have an esxi 5.1 host with 8 vm's on it. The host has 128 GB of physical memory and each vm is given 14 GB of memory. So with all 8 vm's running I am still under-committed on memory usage. our datastore is the problem. The datastore was sized out for the size of the vm's not the additional vswp that is being created with each vm. My question is this: if I set a memory reservation of 14gb this will drop the vswp to 0 bytes. But, if I set the memory reservation will the vswp grow if the vm's ever balloon beyond the set memory? Also if I reserve the memory at 14gb should I uncheck the unlimited box and set the limit to 14gb will that restrain the vswp from ever growing. I am a little confused about this and couldn't find any answers on it. My goal is to get the vswp to 0 bytes, but allow it to grow should something require more physical memory from a vm than it has. Looking forward to some knowledge....
Eric
