I' m building a ESXi 5.0 host with (8) 1.2TB SAS drives. It will be used temporarily for P2V'ing servers at a remote site - then shipped back to corporate. The VMs will then be moved to SAN storage
Is there a :best" way to configure the host disk. We normally create a single Raid 5 array using all drives, in this case all 8. This logical drive would contain the ESX install and all VM guests. From
a performance standpoint would it be better to create 2 drives - 1 forthe ESXi install and the other to contain the VMs ? How would I create the second disk after ESX is installed ? Thanks.
