don't know if it goes here or not, in the backup and recovery section it is mostly vdp that they talk about.
i have an esxi 5.1 essentials plus server that i am using as a "non production" host. even though it's deemed non production i would like to get at least some vmdk snapshot backups.
we use backup exec 2012 and it seems to do an ok job of doing a backup for the vmdk's. about 5 vms, 72GB in 40 min doing at about 2000 MB/min.
since this is a non prod server we are using local storage, about 6 disks, 2 paired up at raid1, so we have about 3 datastores and the vm's are spread out on those datastores.
the networking is setup to use a standard vswitch that has the vm's nic and also the vmkernel port.
so during the backups it all goes through the same single nic, the server does have a total of 4 physcal nic's available.
my question is, should i use the other ports for backup traffic? and how would i go about doing that? is there any documentation about setting it up or best practices for it?
i tried search through the community and some online searches but found nothing conclusive about it.
