Hey All ; We are having an intermittent connectivity issue from one site to another. And we have been able to isolate the issue( we think) to the vswitches setup in vsphere. So as the diagram below illustrates we have 2 active vswitches. Each assigned 2 physical nics. Vswitch0 connects to our local lan switch(subnet 10.0.0.x), and vswitch2(subnet 172.16.0.x) connects to our iscsi switch. Currently local lan switch and iscsi switch connect to each other through a physical cable. Here is what we discovered today, if we pull this cable that connects both physical switches the intermitten connectivity stops, but the VM's on vswitch0 can't connect to the LUNs in the iscsi switch.
I am hopings some feedback from the community might assist me in solving this little issue. Here are some things I am thinking might do the trick.
1) There is 2 free physical nics available on that vmhost. Could adding vmnic0 to switch0 and connecting to iscsi switch do the trick? And allow traffic to flow from switch0 to switch2?
2) I had read about an appliance that could route the traffic between the two switches, but I would try and doing withou introducing other elements into the infracstrucutre if possible?
3) I had also read that I could possible consolidate all virtual nics into 1 switch and this issue would remedy itself.
Any help with this would be truly be appreciated.
