IP HASH and Ether Channels

Afternoon guys , I require some help with a client we inherited .

We know if you want to use IP hashing , you should have Ether-Channel configured Up steam , with LACP as an optional bit of intelligence .

The large infrastructure we inherited has both IP hash , and Route based on Originating port set op portgroups

One vDS , two Uplinks per IBM FLEX ESXI host with roughly 50% of port groups on IP and the rest on Port ID

How is it even working ?

As my Network guys confirmed we don't have Ether Chanel set up ?

Port ID requires that only old school trunking is done

IP hash requires Ether Channel

So how do they both co exist on shared uplinks , shared BLADE IO modules , TOR and Core Switch ?

I need to upgrade to vSphere 6 , so basically and I trying to come up with the best config there

For now , I think making sure there are no Ether Channels , and using LBT is the best way forward

Getting  to vSphere 6 however is the challenge . I will need to move VDS to VSS to move esxi hosts to VC6 .

Breaking the existing Teaming might be a problem with this vSphere 5.1 Mixed mode ( IP and Port hash )

Any insights please ?
