Hello. We have been using licensed versions of vCenter Essentials 5.0 with two ESXi 5.0 Essentials hosts and one ESXi 5.0 Standard Host. Recently, we upgraded vCenter to 5.1U1, followed by upgrading the two Essentials ESXi hosts to 5.1U1. This was all done with seemingly no issues with the 5.0 licenses.
The standard edition ESXI host has also been upgraded to 5.1U1, but when attempting to connect it to vCenter, we are receiving this message:
"The host is licensed with VMware vSphere 5 Standard. The license edition of vCenter Server does not support VMware vSphere 5 Standard." We did not receive this message after connecting the two Essentials ESXi hosts.
It was our understanding that licenses for 5.0 would be upgradeable (cost-free) to 5.1U1. Is it not possible to connect this host (ESXi 5.1U1 Standard) to vCenter (5.1U1 Essentials)? If it is possible, what needs to be done to make it work? Thanks for any help!
