After upgrading ESXi to 5.1 Windows 7 virtual workstations does not register DNS A record any more. PTR records are registered just fine but no A records.
DNS is Windows 2008R2.
DHCP is Windows 2008R2.
Windows 7 is 64bit.
Latest and greatest Vmware tools are installed.
Workstations get their ip addresses from DHCP.
Non secure dynamic updates are enabled.
Firewall is disabled.
Workstations are domain joined.
Interesting is that physical workstations register both records and virtual WindowsXP workstations also register both records. Win7 and WinXP workstations are in same subnet.
From DNS Debug log only difference between working and not working (physical and virtual) is:
Working : RCODE 0 (NOERROR)
Not working : RCODE 3 (NXDOMAIN)
